Sterling Riggs signs off from WDRB Mornings thanking viewers for 13 years (2025)

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- After 13 years, Sterling Riggs signed off as anchor of WDRB Mornings

"To our viewers, I can't tell you how grateful I am for trusting us. Our team, the kind comments, it has been a great honor of my life to work in Louisville, Ky. and serve our community. I love my work, I love what we've done. I just ask that you continue to support. this fantastic team."

Sterling's 3-year-old daughter Crew and 1-year-old son Miller also came to support their dad for his final broadcast. They'll be seeing a lot more of him in the days ahead -- and that's exactly why Sterling is stepping down, to have time with his family. Not setting his daily alarm for 2:45 a.m. is a bonus.

Candyce was on vacation for Sterling's last day, but she sent him a message.

In a social media post, he said WDRB has played a big part in his life since 2011.

"The past13 years have been wonderful. We’ve shared countless laughs, celebrated my marriage, the birth of my two children, and you gave my job meaning. The messages I’ve received have been incredibly humbling. I’ll tell you this, you sure make me feel special. Thanks for letting me be part of your morning routine."

Lindsay Allen will move into the anchor chair alongside Candyce Clifft. She told Sterling at the end of the show on Friday that "you leave such big shoes to fill." But Sterling disagreed.

"That's your chair now," Sterling told Lindsay. "And you're going to do great things."
